Sittee River, Belize

Listing ID: 10007154186

Looking to live a peaceful, traditional lifestyle? This region has changed little over the years and that's how the locals like it. Enjoy fishing for breakfast and farming for dinner. This region is one of Belize's most lush and vibrant ecosystems. Sittee river is one of only a handful of rivers in Belize that is navigable for larger vessels and has a marina to service tours and boats. To the west we go upstream past the Kendall bridge into the mountains and jungle - raw wilderness dotted with large banana farms and smaller citrus. A great place to get dropped off with your kayak and drift downstream as the river meanders towards the sea. To the east, paddle past the charming riverfront homes hidden amongst the thick jungle on your way to the Curve bar at the marina, one of the finest eatery's in the country, set on the water with great views up and down stream. If your feeling adventurous, continue downstream to the Caribbean sea just a few minutes by boat and a 15 minutes ride to the inner cayes where one can spend years exploring all the natural coral islands in Belize on your way to the world's second largest and healthiest reef systems. If water is not on the menu today, then a quick ride inland to all the wonderful hikes and waterfalls in the Maya Mountains. Cockscomb Jaguar Reserve is 15 minutes north with waterfall rappelling, birdwatching, hiking to Victoria peak, mountain biking or just a relaxing hike to a special waterfall. If you are after a good meal or a bit of excitment, Hopkins is a charming fishing village that has grown into one of the countries cultural destinations just down the road - a mixture of quaint and Garifuna homes and restaurants and upscale expat resorts and eateries. Enjoy great pizza at Driftwood directly on the beach as the centre of the village. If its a roadtrip day, Placencia is a 30 minute drive to the south and one of the countries fastest growing destinations. This 1.4 acre parcel is in its original state - thick jungle with natural hardwoods among 20 feet high sugar cane. This lot has high banks that keep it from flooding during rains. It is located directly behind the water tower and near electric. Sittee river is known for its black fertile soil making this land ideal for growing any type of tree, or plant.
